I wanted to pass along information on a wonderful movie project celebrating the life and work of a wonderful man, Mr. Tyrus Wong. At 102 years, Mr. Wong continues to bring beauty and joy into the world through his kite making. A team of friends, family and colleagues are working hard to bring a movie project featuring his life's work to fruition and reached out to the kite industry for support. 

The Kite Trade Association International is proud to be an official community outreach partner of the documentary film, Tyrus Wong: Brushstrokes in Hollywood. The film is the first in-depth portrait of 102-year old pioneering Chinese American painter, Hollywood illustrator, kite builder and Disney legend, Tyrus Wong.

The film is currently in post-production and the producers need your help to complete the film and bring it to the big screen!

The TEAM at SF KITES!

We had a nice turn out and made new friends who reminded us just how easy and fun it is to fly kites!  Thanks to "Tom" our local regular who showed off his fine assortment of Prism and other kites.  That barrell kite seems to defy physics, but sure was a stable flyer.

Hello to our new kite friends;  Megan, Tommy and Sean!  Tommy (all of about 4 years old, is featured in a related picture here and really seemed to enjoy his new Delta kite)  Sean and Megan were first time stunt kite flyers and put Premier's Osprey to the "newbie" test, which is passed with flying colors...literally!

Join us this and every Sunday through August (weather permitting) for future Fun Flys.  Bring your own kites or try some of ours, but come on down.

COME AND ENJOY A DAY OF KITING, CONTESTS, PRIZES AND FUN AT THE FAMILY DAY KITE FESTIVAL!  This annual event is once again being held again on September 17th and 18th at Marina Green in San Francisco.  Check out the link for more information and directions and be sure to come and visit our booth!  We will be doing kite demos and raffling off free kites, air toys and more!
